Getting Ready

Complete these steps before submitting your claim.

CHECK DEVICE LIGHT

The SurgeShield device can be found on your electric meter. Need help locating the device light? Find our SurgeShield device guide here.

If the light is on, your device is working as expected. Warranty coverage applies only if a surge occurs and the device fails to protect your equipment.

Appliance damage can happen for a variety of reasons—such as normal wear and tear or surges entering through cable or phone lines. That’s why it’s important to confirm whether the surge came through your electric meter. If you still believe the device failed to perform properly, you may move forward with submitting a claim.

CONTACT A TECHNICIAN

A technician’s evaluation helps confirm whether the surge damage occurred and ensures your claim includes all required details.

Obtain the following documents from the licensed technician:

1.   An itemized invoice or repair estimate on an official company letterhead that confirms the damage to the covered item was due to a power surge. To help avoid delays, your invoice or estimate must include:

  • Technician/company name, address, and phone number
  • License number
  • Appliance details
  • Description of damage
  • Repair diagnosis
  • Itemized repair costs

If the appliance is not repairable, you must also provide documentation supporting the replacement value.

2.   A completed and signed technician certification form.

These documents will be required when you submit your claim.
